"Choosing a B&B without a personal recommendation is always a bit of a risk but our 2009 choice of The Coach House, Aldringham proved a huge success.Follow the long lane in the shade of old trees sending the feeding rabbits scampering for cover. Turn past the old glasshouses of the Stone House Estate and you are rewarded with your first view of this excellent B&B in its secluded and idyllic location.
Hosts - Chris and Tricia - were wonderful. Relaxed, helpful and happy to advise on itineraries they made us feel comfortable from our first hand shake. Bed- and bathrooms were immaculate, spacious, tastefully decorated and very thoughtfully laid out.
Woken by birdsong every morning, we enjoyed big, healthy breakfasts. Despite its seclusion, The Coach House proved the perfect staging point, just a few minutes by car to Snape or Aldeburgh. We walked to the coast at charming Thorpeness - just 35 minutes as promised and without touching a single road.
There's a wealth of excellent places to eat, even a traditional pub which grows - and rears - it's own; more walks and real countryside than you can shake a stick at, and if you're fortunate (as we were) you can visit Chris's studio, from which we purchased two fine paintings for our Swiss home.
The Coach House was already recommended to family and friends after one night of our four night stay. We could not have been happier, nor better received."
